Strange Japanese kitty – do you know who I am?
Sep 15th
My GF got a pressie from a friend of ours in Japan last christmas.
It was a black kitty pencil case, but he had no idea what the name of this kitty was. Any of you able to put a name to a (furry felt) face from the pics below? If you can, please let me know!

Indie game: Deaths..

Thanks to Alec Meer on Rock, Paper, Shotgun for stumbling across this strange blend of the evil and unexpected game challenges in I wanna be the guy and a creepy form of social networking.
Play it here
Simply titled “Deaths”, this game will record the last 50 deaths from the others playing the game and pull them into your level, so you get to see where they fucked up, build up a suspense when you look at a pile of corpses and nothing around to kill them and generally bitch at the monitor when a pile of corpses get too much for you to get past an obsticle. The only problem I have with it is the requirement of installing a plug in.. Please stop using this practice! It makes me cry inside!!
It also has a kinda voyueristic side of it, as you sit there wondering if anyone else is sat at their monitor, laughing at the placement of your random and unfortunate death. How are they to know your cat jumped up and stuck its arse in your face just as you were supposed to jump at that moment? Instead your death will appear on a few peoples screens completely out of context.
Some are even taking advantage of this by purposefully dieing in random locations over and over again to make it look like something is there or that it’s the path you’re meant to follow.
Regardless of those aspects, it is a great concept and one I’d like to see implemented in some other classic games.
Just imagine if Mario showed the last 50 to100 deaths on that level, if corpses hung around in survival horror games or particularly spectacular deaths become immortalised in the level for a week or so.
What games do you think would benefit from this game mechanic? And what else can you come up with?
As always, I’d love to know what you think!
