www.blackle.com has hit the news of late, with treehuggers everywhere claiming that it’ll help save the world and reduce your electricity bill.
Well, sorry to break it to you but there’s practically no evidence to show that changing to black reduces energy consumption on anything other than CRT monitors, and there may even be a small increase in energy consumption when black is displayed on an LCD panel.

if you want to save energy then do simply things like just turn the screen and pc off when you’re finished with them, unplug usb devices that you rarely use and turn down brightness/contrast values on your monitor.
If you have an old crt then sure, use blackle and you will save yourself some energy.. but if you have an lcd don’t even bother.
yup, was crawling under the bed when I stumbled across this old tape I still had kicking around that came with a stick of ram I once bought.

this should be a better method than the old php file I was using as this gives me greater control over it ![]()
This new site definately seems to be a lot nicer than the old phpnuke one and should allow me to do some pretty cool stuff eventually ![]()
