www.blackle.com has hit the news of late, with treehuggers everywhere claiming that it’ll help save the world and reduce your electricity bill.

Well, sorry to break it to you but there’s practically no evidence to show that changing to black reduces energy consumption on anything other than CRT monitors, and there may even be a small increase in energy consumption when black is displayed on an LCD panel.

if you want to save energy then do simply things like just turn the screen and pc off when you’re finished with them, unplug usb devices that you rarely use and turn down brightness/contrast values on your monitor.

If you have an old crt then sure, use blackle and you will save yourself some energy.. but if you have an lcd don’t even bother.
