A call for help - new camcorder

In preperation for when I finally get my hands on the cash I’m owed from my now ex place of work, I’m looking around for a new camcorder to finally provide decent quality video footage and help take Vertical Slice to the next level.

Currently I’m using my trusty Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000 for the video, which has allowed me to get the taste of creating my footage in digital files rather than piss about with tapes, which is one of the reasons why I won’t use my old minidv camcorder - the other being its worse performance than the webcam when it comes to lighting!

So, my choices are between a flash and a HDD based camcorder without breaking the bank (looking at a limit of about £250 to £300).

One that caught my eye is the JVC GZ-HD10KE

Problem is, I don’t really have much experience looking for these so a little advice would be greatly recieved. If you have any suggestions please drop them off into the comments :)

Network problems after putting XP onto your HP 6720s? Laptop

Are you having problems with your network adapter after you wiped vista from your HP 6720s laptop and installed XP?

Does it connect but not grab an IP or won’t seem to allow any traffic to flow if it does manage to get an IP or you set a static one?
Occationally notice that you get an “Error Code 12″ within device manager?

Then the problem is the same as mine, and the solution to it can be found at this address.

Basically, the problem is that you have a BIOS version older than F.03 (09/04/2007) - warning, american date format ;)
Hopefully this should save your hair from becoming bunches in your hands as after a quick flash of the BIOS and all should be right with the world once again ;)

what is RAID?

Someone I know quizzed me about how windows would handle being installed onto a machine that was running RAID, so I thought that it might be worth making a video where I cover very basic info about what RAID is and then answered his question towards the end.

RAID is something you’ll see more and more of in consumer devices, particularly because it can provide you with very good fault tollerance, which means should you suffer a hard drive failure you won’t lose all of them one off pictures and movies that you have taken of your friends and family.

However, do bear in mind that you can still lose them to corruption and accidental deletion.. the best ways to get around this is to store your important data in multiple locations - external hard drives are often coming with backup software now adays.
